I can not thank or recommend this veterinary practice enough, from the receptionists to the vet, everyone was lovely, friendly and professional. Having already been to a couple of different veterinary practices in selby, we have had our faith in vets restored and when the time comes to get another dog, this is where our next family member will be going...thank you all x

"We are proud to be one of the few practices that still provides our own out of hours services for our patients." Why is this still on here when you DO NOT provide out of hours services? Having been a client for 15 years I was incredibly disappointed to find out on the evening of New Year's Day that Holmfield no longer provides emergency cover for clients and has signed up to emergency care with a practice north of Leeds. I was given no notice of this and could not take my very seriously ill cat on an hour and a half's journey during the night. Fortunately another practice in York agreed to see my cat and I have now moved all my pets to their care as I need to reassurance that they can provide emergency care when needed. A great shame.
Vet ResponseThank you for bringing this to our attention Lucy we have amended the website accordingly. We are so sorry that you were unaware of the emergency provision at the time you needed it. We mailed out to all clients with email addresses and privacy settings that allowed us to do so, in line with current GDPR regulations. We understand your disappointment at the changes. We unfortunately had to make this decision in response to a national shortage in veterinary manpower which makes recruiting very difficult plus unprecedented illness within our own team. We would be more than happy to discuss this further with you if you would like to give us a call. Please ask for a member of our management team.

My bunny Magnus was recently taken ill and it quickly became obvious he needed emergency treatment. After a number of visits to Brayton, with days spent receiving wonderful care and attention from the dedicated staff, I am so pleased to say he has fully recovered. It was touch and go at one point, but the extra time in Brayton recommended by the vet was the right decision. I'm very grateful to everyone who was involved in his care and to the rest of the staff, who dealt with other clients whilst Magnus received the focused care he needed.

Out of the blue, our GSD George had bloated massively and we rang the vet within minutes. We arrived about half an hour later to be met in the car park by the vet and a nurse. They were so professional, George was in the surgery and having lines put in, in what seemed like seconds, never seen anyone work so fast. The vet Leanne Hall explained what was wrong with him and also informed us of the risks due to his age of an anaesthetic. This dog had saved my husbands life some years ago and we were not going to miss the chance to try to save his. He was under the anaesthetic and being operated on so fast and because of that his life was saved. He was really poorly when he went in and yet the next day we had our darling George back home. All the staff on that day were so kind to us, I was in tears and my husband could hardly talk, but they treated us with respect and caring. George has recovered so well we can hardly believe he had been close to death, a twisted stomach is very dangerous, but the vets quick action saved him. We have two other GSD's and if they get the same treatment that George did then we have no worries for the future. An excellent staff of people right the way through, from the receptionist who listened to us babbling on about George to the practise manager who understood our concerns. The vet, the nurses, everyone was exemplary. Follow up care has been equally as good. Thank you so much for saving our George, you will never know how much he means to us.
Vet ResponseThank you so much for your review Mr and Mrs Harrison. We were delighted to be able to help George and of course so pleased to see him make a full recovery.

I just want to thank Leanne and Eleanor for their caring manner during our stressful visit with Doogy. Unfortunately they had to put him to sleep but the way they were so calm and comforting made a difference to us. We really appreciate your card to express their sympathy. That is such a lovely touch. If we ever get another dog we will have no hesitation in going back to your practice. We would recommend it to everyone. Thank you

I recently had to make the very difficult decision to let my very old rabbit Porter be put to sleep. The distress this caused me was obvious to all and Kirsty was exceptionally kind and supportive through my visit, for which I am deeply grateful. You are always aware that everyone at the practice cares for the animals they treat.

I have used this veterinary practice for many years and the staff continue to amaze me with their care for both the patients and their owners. Everyone is very kind and professional, and have your pet's best interest at heart - they go the extra without even being asked.
