An experience so disappointing that I moved vets to complete my cat's treatment. On being booked in for a fairly routine tooth extraction, I was contacted by the vet to say they would not be able to go through with the operation because they had found a heart murmur so it would be risky for the general anaesthetic to go ahead. A blood test would be done to test the stress levels on my cat's heart, and further action would then be decided, though a heart scan would be likely. I was advised I would be contacted with the results of the blood test later that day. After not hearing anything, I phoned the vet who told me the test had failed. It was their last test and they would have to order another to repeat the test tomorrow and I would be advised of the results. Ok, these things happen, though I was worried for my cat, especially as he is older. After contacting the surgery 4 times that day, and 2 times the next day, I still hadn't heard anything by midday, despite having been repeatedly told they had the results and the vet would contact. So I sent an email confirming that I would be moving vet because I needed the results to find out what treatment my cat needed. They managed to respond immediately this, with a string of excuses - we were busy, we knew it wasn't serious, the test was negative, we would have contacted you today - which I didn't feel were acceptable, as I had been promised the results on the day of the test, and was worried that my cat might have a heart problem. Everyone is busy, but I didn't know the results were negative and there was nothing to worry about. Very uncaring and inconsiderate.
Vet ResponseAs you are aware we are working under extremely cramped and difficult conditions since we moved into the portacabins following our flood in the summer and I can only apologise if you feel you have been let down on this occasion. As explained in my letter, my staff is doing their absolute best to maintain the high quality of service my clients have come to expect over the last 16 years. Clearly you have not had many opportunities to see us in action, since you only registered with us in January 2016 but I can understand that this was a troubling and worrying time for you. However, the majority of our clients has seen my staff work tirelessly in cramped conditions, coping with power cuts, issues with the phone line, extreme heat in the summer and, more recently, the cold mornings and evenings. During this time they have remained dedicated, cheerful and uncomplaining. I am very glad to hear that Bluey is doing well.

Alison and her team have given us amazing support since we joined their surgery last spring. Our dog was just spayed last week at 18 months and is doing well, the team made it easy and worry-free for her and me! They've seen a lot of us in her first year as she didn't gain weight well and had quite a lot of tummy problems. The team's response has been compassionate and caring and they have also been thorough in their search for answers. When Minnie developed a serious eye problem they managed it very well and when it became apparent the issue required specialist care they were quick to refer her. The welcome at the door is always warm, Minnie loves going there (could be the nice treats and all the love and fuss she gets) and the extended hours makes it easy to be seen promptly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the team at Vets on the Park to all pet lovers!

We have been clients of this practice for a number of years and find everybody associated with it unfailingly caring, helpful, kind and knowledgeable. They not only care for our dogs and cats but also care for us, the owners, in a way that we have never experienced before - nothing is too much trouble, the phone is always answered and the whole practice is always clean, tidy and welcoming - I cannot recommend them highly enough. They also are part of an out-of-hours scheme which means that there is someone on the end of the phone 24/7 which is most reassuring.
