i recently had to have my beautiful rabbit, Twilight, put to sleep after an illness that came on so suddenly. Garrick and Jennifer examined him on two seperate occasions. Jennifer explained the whole process of the illness and I had some knowledge of it already. After a few days on meds he started to improve and I was given hope. Sadly, just 6 days later he took the most horrible turn for the worst and Adam had to put my beautiful baby boy to sleep. The compassion I received from all vets- even ones who hadn't treated him- and the nurses was touching. This morning I had a card through the post from all the staff at the surgery offering their condolances. That set me off crying again as it was such a lovely thing to do; a truly compassionate gesture. I can't praise them enough.

Took my little boy Eddie to this Vet as he was very unwell. The treatment that Garrick and the staff gave him and myself were second to none. My boy had to stay there for the day to undergo many tests and surgery.Unfortunately the outlook for my poor boy was not good as he had a terminal illness and three days later had to take him back to be put to sleep. Again the treatment that both Eddie and I got were second to none by all staff members. I would without a doubt recommend this surgery to anyone and if the staff concerned read this thank you to everyone for caring for Eddie

Cannot praise Garrick and the nurses enough - took care of my boy Dexter and did everything they possibly could to save him - can never fault their professionalism and the sheer amount of care and compassion they showed myself and Dexter - I knew he was in the best possible care at all times - the care I received after he passed over to the rainbow bridge was amazing I know Dexter was not alone or in pain when he passed away. They have also been amazing throughout my other bunny Miley's care and worked a miracle on her. Cannot recommend enough.

Garrick and his team diagnosed our female husky with Diabetes KTA and admitted her immediately after she had been losing weight, vomiting and was depressed after another vet hadn't thought it necessary to do a urine test and gave her sickness tablets 3 weeks earlier. Thankfully we got her to Companion Care in time before she had organ failure and they cared for her all weekend even though they don't normally provide emergency cover but Garrick kindly understood we could not afford emergency vet fees. We cannot thank them enough for the care they have given Cheyenne who is back to playing with her brother and pulling me along for walkies. She is doing well with her diabetes diet and insulin and we would never go anywhere else. Formidable team, you will not be dissapointed.

Disgusted with the information provided and the treatment offered before we were given an option of a scan. Due to this it has resulted in my dog suffering and has now passed away. Feels like the prolonged analysis was just a way to take more money from us.

Vet Response

Due to data protection and lack of contact detail, we are unable to answer this review directly. Please remember, however, that as a practice, our patients are our first priority. We recommend best medicine in each case, but are unable to insist these regimes are followed by a patients owner. We are always happy to discuss alternatives should they be available. I would urge the patient's owner in this instance, to contact us and discuss this matter in detail.

I rarely if ever leave comments on social media pages, but I feel compelled to do so this time. I have been to many vets in my life, and I have to say that the service I received from Companion Care in Harlow was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. My dog suffered a very bad broken leg recently after being hit by a car. We arrived at the surgery in utter distress. The staff were extremely helpful and comforting all the way through. Our dog was seen as immediately and the vets were amazing at dealing with his injuries, and we were kept fully informed throughout. Pain relief, X-rays and support splints were placed that very same day to allow the orthopedic vet to plan how he was going to fix the break. The surgery happened a few days later and they did a fantastic job, and our dog now seems back to his normal self. Our family cannot thank you enough!!!!

So my dog done an escape trick today so after calling around I get the details for the dog warden and my dog is there. I find out that my dog was taken in too pets at home Edinburgh way harlow where he is registered the staff don't do anything other than call the dog warden. The dog is actually one of there patients and is microchipped too!!! On calling them to ask why they did not contact me I'm told we did what was best for the animal. I have only been with them 3 months and was horrified the woman on the phone began to lecture me on how to ensure the dog does not get out again well sorry but I have a black lab and he got out of a cat flap which he broke to get out so avoid this vets at all costs staff are rude and don't really care one bit.

Vet Response

We are very happy to take in stray dogs to attempt to reunite them with their owners. However, unless a pets microchip registration information is kept up to date with the national database or indeed given to us upon registration of a pet with us, we would be unable to contact the owner. In these circumstances, transfer of the dog to the local dog warden has the highest chance of a successful reunion, but unfortunately does incur a cost due to the council upon retrieval. We urge every client registering with us to provide us with their pets microchip number or to have one implanted if this has not been done previously. We also strongly encourage anyone with micro chipped pets to update their national database registration if they move or change phone numbers.

I have written a review on a local social media site called "Love Your Doorstep Harlow", to say how good you all are, in particular Garrick (the Vet) who has gone over and above the call of duty researching and investigating the problems my dog is suffering from - even in his own time I suspect - here is what I wrote:- I have just moved to Harlow and thought I would let you know how impressed I am with Companion Vets 01279 770104 (the vets in the Pets At Home store). I saw a vet called Garrick a couple of times with my dog who has Cushing's Syndrome and he and the nurses are wonderful. They have gone out of their way to help my little Shih Tzu and have discovered another problem she has which my other vet had overlooked. I took her there with an ear and eye infection and they have helped her so much. I was really worried that I wouldn't find a vet as good as my original one, well I have!!
