I took my Shar-pei Tai into this vet on Monday 28/719 as he’d had a couple of nose bleeds (we thought a grass seed was stuck up there) not bad nose bleeds but some blood in his snot. The vet told me he’d need to flush it. Tai doesn’t like strangers but is ok when I’m there. I was told to bring him in Tuesday at 8:15. I stated clearly to the vet don’t let him get stressed if he does ring me & I’ll come to him & sort it.. last time he went there they gave me a sedative to give to him st home then take him back to the vets .. I was told at about 14:30 tai had passed away He’d had a cardiac arrest. I went straight down there with my son to go and see Tai when asked what had happened they said they gave him a small dose to calm him down then they went to put in the anaesthetic and Tai woke up and started to try and bite everybody so instead of calling me they carried on trying to put a muzzle on him. Why should this have happened to my dog when I’d made it VERY clear to phone me if he got stressed... I got Tai’s Harness back with only half the lead on it as Tai had eaten straight through his lead how did this happen???

Empathy throughout the decision of needing to make the decision to go through with euthanasia. Felt very supportive

I was ripped off by them as I paid for a service I did not receive and the office manager was unhelpful, abrupt and told lies. This went to mediation and bruised ego office manager refused to mediate stating he did not want a customer like me anyway. Clearly forgetting they ripped me off and took my money for a full health check they did not carry out as clearly the vet did not know what it entailed. I asked for a partial refund which was refused and now they owe me money and have always been false advertising and they have the indecency to tell me they don’t want me as a customer when I’m the one who was ripped off

Vet Response

Upon offering you free health check as a gesture of goodwill (before the mediation) you refused this offer with a rude comment that does not warrant being in the public domain. A satisfactory professional relationship between a client and his/her Veterinary Surgeon must be founded on mutual trust, confidence and respect. As, it is clear, this no longer forms the basis of such relationship, we deemed reasonable to supply a different Veterinary Clinic, of your choosing, with the clinical history of all your pets.

Been here a few times now with my 12 week old pug for vaccines and advice and I can not praise the staff enough very welcoming, friendly, professional and definitely great value for the service you receive. Frank (my pup) has been very well looked after at the surgery and the staff all love him and make him feel at ease on every visit. Can not recommend Leicester fosse park surgery enough.

We booked an appointment to have our very old, blind cat put to sleep. After being left waiting for almost 40 minutes in a consulting room, and after several requests to find out what was happening (but no answer given) we were finally seen by someone. They didn't introduce themselves. They barely examined the cat. They didn't listen to what was being told to them. Apparently the cat only has arthritis and can see perfectly well. This apparently explains why she walks normally straight in to objects and then cowers on the floor in fright. We left and would not recommend anyone to visit this practice.

Vet Response

We at Companion Care Vets at Leicester Fosse Park take every complaint seriously. I am very saddened that your experience at my clinic was far from your expectation, and at no point was that our intention. As you can imagine for an animal to be put to sleep we need to be sure that all facts are of client knowledge and agreed upon to prevent any fallout in the future, as there is no reverse drugs for the procedure. What Angelo was trying to ascertain was that the reason for this procedure to take place was consistent with the history that had been drafted. If the cat, as per the vets' clinical and professional opinion, was healthy, but there was something that could be done, to help a specific condition, such as arthritis, it would be a valid point to raise this with you as you are the legitimate owner of your pet. At no point did he intend to make you feel, let alone be judgmental or not carrying out the procedure, if that was your wish, hence he offered to carry out the procedure. This was the first time that you have brought your cat to us and we needed to make sure you were aware of what the reason and cause was for your cat's behaviour. Please feel free to contact me.
