After taking my very ill dog who had breathing difficulties to the longton surgery on Saturday at 3pm I felt the service I received was totally unexceptionable as no help was given to very unwell dog apart from being offered a chest X-ray which would be in 4 days time.the vet basically said it could be a number of issues but clearly didn't want to get to the root of my dogs problem.so no help was given although this cost £28. My dogs health deteriorated which resulted in us taking him to the emergency vets where straight away they offered help putting him in an oxygen tent. They preformed many tests on him and kept myself updated on a regular basis. Unfortunately despite there best efforts my poor dog had to be put to sleep. I feel if more care and attention was given by vets for pets,my beloved dog may of stood a chance when we first asked for help.

they think money grows on trees I took my cat this morning it cost £74-00 for 1 injection. I was in for 3 minutes. I am a pensioner and in a short period I have spent over £1,000-00
Vet ResponseThis client came in for a booster vaccination for the cat in question along with a further appointment for a post operative dental check for the other cat.
The client informed my Veterinary Surgeon colleague at the appointment that they had noticed a wound on the cats back the night before. On examination there was a single puncture wound with adjacent soft tissue swelling and infection. The clients informed my colleague that the cats did indeed fight and therefore it was considered that the puncture hole was most likely a bite wound. The veterinary surgeon recommended antibiotic treatment although they advised they thought that administering tablets would be impossible, so they opted for the 14 day acting injectable antibiotic. This was given during the consultation. The cat is 5.8 kilograms, so the appropriate dose for the injection was £45.10 which will be treatment from a one off injection for 2 whole weeks. A consultation was charged for professional time which is appropriate and the charge was £28.50. The total cost was £73.60. The records of when the time the client was called into the consult, to the time it was charged, ir when the client went to the desk was 11 minutes in duration.
The other cat that was also presented for a post dental check today and seen by another of my colleagues. That appointment carried no charge.
The client in question has two cats, one has required significant dental treatment and both over the last 12 months have had multiple issues with wounds, infections, sore eyes of which is due to a chronic issue from surgery earlier in life prior to registration with us.
The professional consultation charge stands and the client chose to have the injection rather than to attempt administering tablets to the cat twice daily for 14 days... for which many cat owners in a similar predicament are actually thankful that such an injection exists.

From the moment you walk through the doors into reception the staff are warm and welcoming not only to you but to your pet as well. They can't do enough to accommodate your needs. The vet that I've seen for my puppy previously was so nice and friendly and reassuring when our puppy injured her paw, and more recently taking our pup in for her flea and worm treatment I asked for some advice from the nurse and she answered all of my questions without hesitation and never once made me feel I was taking up too much of her time, she was friendly and helpful and made a fuss of my pup while answering my questions. Vets4Pets is a tremendous service and I would highly recommend it.
