I took my dog into see the vet on Tuesday the 8/5/18, upon entering the vets we were greeted by reception and asked to take a seat within 2 to 3 minutes we were called in to see the vet who was a very nice gentle man, my dog was visibly ill she vomited on the counter she was being examined on, he told me that he could feel a tumoral mass in her upper abdoman and he said for every 5 heart beats she had 4 were doing nothing and that she had heart failure, now don't get me wrong as a pet owner i am aware of my responsibilites and yes it's my fault that i did not have pet insurance for her but we were way past that she was in the final hours of her life and he wanted to do diagnostic tests which I made clear I could not afford, he convinced us to go away and come back the next day having tried o secure funds for tests, I ended up paying £64 for pain relief and anti sickness injections when in relaity if he done what i asked about he could have euthanised her and ended her suffering there and then she died 6 hours later at home, and she died the most horrific death which has left my partner with psychological scarring that who knows if it will ever go away, I don't blame him I blame the system he works in, whilst I understand that he works in a business the animals wellbeing was not given top priority it centred around what would bring in the most cash for the surgery, I never took Frica to the vets as I already knew that this is the industry, she had her initial injections as a puppy and she went on to live a happy life left to them they would have been injecting her once maybe twice a year it's a great money spinner for them. Yes this is a rant but i am disgusted with the way you run your business I came to you once in Fricas life and you failed miserably at that point you and I both know that the correct thing to have done was to have put her to sleep there and then, she died the most horrible and unnecessary death she suffered immensely, Vets take an oath and it is: I PROMISE above all that I will pursue the work of my profession with uprightness of conduct and that my constant endeavour will be to ensure the welfare of the animals committed to my care.. this was not excersied in my dogs case and I would have had more respect for you if you said, I solemnly swear to raise as much cash as I possibly can off the back of the suffering animals that come into the surgery.
Your sincerely disgusted with your conduct
Mr Darren Mountford
Thank you for taking the time to review your current visit to Rugby Vets4Pets. We would like to offer our sincere condolences for your loss and I am sorry to hear you were not satisfied with the advice you received from our vet.
Our vets are obliged to give you all of the options during a consultation and, having reviewed your clinical notes, I understand that our vet offered both further investigations and euthanasia at the time of the consultation. I would like to take this opportunity to assure you that we always work to our ethos of putting pets first and would never recommend a treatment option that wasn't in the best interest of the patient.
If you would like to discuss the matter further then please don't hesitate to contact the practice.
