Dr Charlotte Hussey BSC. (Hons) BMV&S MRCVS, Vet at Skylark Vets explains how the video platform has helped the practice and how she will continue to offer the service in the future after Coronavirus.
“We have found it very useful to enable assessment of patients and whether they need a [face-to-face] appointment, whether it can wait or something that can be prescribed medication for remotely”
Dr Hussey explains that video consults are more useful than phone calls as the owner might see something different to a trained professional. She provides two examples, one of an itchy dog and one for a turtle, where the owner believed the problems to be quite different from the actual diagnosis.
“We can see the client performing certain tests that we would do… and you can see if they are doing it how you would want them to’.
“The big benefits for the business is that the client has to pay before the consultation…[Video consults] can slot into the practice very easily, even after Coronavirus, there is no reason we can’t continue to offer these consultations.”
