I have 3 small dogs, all were recently very ill with a horrible tummy bug, 2 had to spend consecutive weekends in the vets. On drips, having tests, constantly being checked. Out of hours appointments were made for both & the vet called in, 1 late on a Saturday, the other in the very early hours of a Sunday morning. Care was fantastic, no complaints, no long waits. Both dogs finally returned home recovered, tho both were very tired, as expected. Medication given to treat all 3 dogs, which worked, thankfully I also received masses of advice and reassurance. My dogs get better care at Penmellyn than my elderly mother receives at Treliske! Plus they don't have to wait for hours on a trolley in A&E. Yes you have to pay, but you pay for the service you receive, which in my opinion is second to none.

Thank you very much for your lovely review of our out of hours service, we hope that your dogs have now made a good recovery.

I would like to thank all the staff at Penmellyn Vets St Columb Major for the fantastic treatment we received in our hour of need last Friday, 31at March. Whilst on holiday our Cocker Spaniel, Bertie, had a nasty fall. From the minute I dialed the number spoke to the receptionist on the phone , to our panicked arrival & reassurance from all the team we knew we were in good hands. I'm pleased to say Bertie is now home in Surrey & absolutely fine. Thank you all again.

Vet Response

Very impressed. Ruby got injured out on her walk and we took her straight to the vet. They had no prior warning of our arrival yet we were seen almost immediately and all care and concern given to my dog and also to my partner and myself. Her injury was treated promptly and even though stitching was required we were able to have her home for the night. All praise and thanks to the vet Garret and to all the nurses. Since having her stitches out Ruby bouncing back up the garden as is her norm - not liking the weather tho'! Thanks to everyone for your care.

Vet Response

Thank you for your review Geraldine, we are delighted to hear Ruby is back to her lively self. Hope to see you again soon but hopefully just for a routine visit.

Always had good visits, with my cat previously and now with Lily, our black Labrador rescue dog. She actually enjoys her visits from the minute she arrives at reception where she sits patiently hoping for a treat. I make special mention of Lindsay who has been so wonderful with Lily and with us, showing patience, friendliness and making us feel that Lily is in safe hands. Special mention too for Colin for the his expertise. Well done Penmellyn!

Vet Response

Thank you for your appreciation of our staff, we look forward to seeing you and Lily in the future.

It was as time for Mac to have his annual injection and though he isn't exactly scared, he isn't exactly running into the surgery to get it. The veterinarian who saw him was extremely friendly and gentle with him which relaxed him immediately. She gave him a small treat and before he knew it she had done the injection virtually without his knowledge. Thank you.

Vet Response

Thank you for your very kind review Lesley, we look forward to seeing Mac at his next booster if not before.

I cannot speak highly enough of the amazing care they took of Maddie. She was admitted as an emergency as she was losing a lot of blood. She was examined and immediately put on a drip and cared for attentively but the nurses and vets around the clock. When she wouldn't eat they even cooked her some chicken. Billie nursed Maddie and kept us up to date with her progress which was a great comfort as we were very worried about her. The aftercare was also exceptional when I called late at night once she had returned home. A**+++.

Thank you very much for this amazing review, we hope Maddie is making a good recovery now,.
