Five weeks ago - on March 11th, I took Elsie (our black Labrador) in to Companion Care at the Andover Pets at Home store. I thought she had an eye infection as she was squinting a lot. She was not looking at me properly and I was worried. Despite the Covid 19 lockdown we were given an appointment at 1pm and saw Jen Jaques. She just felt uncomfortable about how Elsie was behaving and consulted the specialist vets down at Anderson Moores. To cut a long afternoon short, her gut feeling and resulting follow up ended with Elsie being diagnosed with Tetanus and being medicated on a drip by 5pm at The Anderson Moores Hospital. We must applaud Jen's instincts and how the whole system activated so quickly. Tetanus is extremely rare in dogs and consequently it is not something that many vets see in their career. It is a horrible and serious illness which involves the Tetanus bacteria getting into the bloodstream of the dog (through a cut paw or claw) and attacking the nervous system. The first signs are bulging eyes (the third eyelid comes over) and ears contracting back on their heads. It then moves swiftly from there to basically paralyse the whole system causing lockjaw and breathing difficulties.....and frequently death. Elsie was cared for intensively for 9 days at the veterinary Hospital in Winchester and at times it was touch and go. With a skeleton staff during the Covid pandemic the vets and nurses did an amazing job with her and it was agreed that we would bring her home to continue to nurse her with advise over the phone. She needs feeding 5 times a day with small morsels and is on a variety of relaxant drugs and antibiotics to fight the infection. It has been five weeks now and will be weeks (if not months) more before hopefully her damaged nerves have regrown but she is alive and improving every day. We will be forever grateful to Jen at CompanionCare for recognising the symptoms and acting so quickly. Maybe another 24hr delay would have been a different outcome. Be vigilant with checking your dogs paws (as they often give no sign) - and if you possibly can - be insured! Thank you All

I have my Guinea pigs registered with companion care, and they have been amazing with one of my Guinea pigs, bimble has had a few very worrying issues with her health recently, and they have been amazing when it comes to getting her seen by one of the vets, they have fitted her in even when they're fully booked.. I can't thank them enough, for being there for her and myself, I feel reassured my Guinea pigs are in good hands. Thank you very much

In the space of 7 days we have lost a rabbit to natural causes, a rabbit that we had to make that hard decision for and one of our dogs had a water infection and was quite poorly. The staff were absolutely fabulous at all visits and free hugs were given. Thank you xx

Took our dog Sasha to see Emma (at the Andover store) due to her not eating and not being able to walk properly( joints not too good). The vet checked her over thougherly and came to the conclusion that it probably wasn't her legs but her ovaries. She suggested that an urgent hysterectomy was in order straight away as Sasha may not live if the ovary burst. Because we live on the Isle of Wight we pride in the dedication of these people hence why we return with our girls(yes we have 2 dogs both sisters) as these people have known them since they were pups for all their checkups etc. We would like to thank the quick and efficient staff for their care with Sasha and especially to Emma without her we may not have had a baby to come home with. We highly recommend them WELL DONE

On Sunday 8th we took our 14 year old yorkie Apple as she was very unwell..Emily the vet was enormously warm & kind not to mention highly professional..after doing some tests discovered she had catastrophic kidney failure..the kindest and only was to have her put to sleep.. I cannot applaud the compassion and care that was shown to both ourselves and our little dog.. thank to enormously to all the staff for your empathy and understanding which for us was so heart wrenchingly difficult..

on april22nd I attended companion care Enham Arch as an emergency with my beloved cat Fudge. the quality of care and concern was first class. explanations given with thoughtfulness and time. A difficult decision made. my presence was not only allowed as the vet gave euthanasia but I felt cared for and supported as well. thank you to all staff concerned. the subsequent condolence card was very much appreciated.

I cannot speak highly enough of the kindness and care my dog Molly received from Andover companion care especially when it came to the hard decision to put her to sleep. Emily was so kind and made Molly so comfortable and gave me time to be with Molly to say goodbye after she had died. I cannot thank her enough.
