Being available for our 4 legged family members during this time is going beyond what is expected of you and I am truly grateful for this.

It took few minutes to get registered via email correspondence, with swift replies and was very easy to book an appointment. When I arrived at the surgery, they took the kitten and I was waiting in my car, doctor Nuno came to the car and brought my kitten, he was very nice and I felt she was in good hands.

Under these very difficult and traumatic times, we are all feeling the hurt, the pain and changes to our lives in a way that we could never have envisaged. However our pets lives continue as usual, perhaps not quite as much exercise at the moment, but not a great change to their lives and of course when their not well, they have their wonderful vets. Even during times that we are presently experiencing, they are there to care for the special members of our families, which also extends to us. I would like to thank Nuno and all his team for their expertise, caring, thoughtfulness and for the true love they have for their patients. Our dogs lives are far better for them being there. Thanks once again for being a wonderful caring team, Steve Chambers & Family.

Very friendly, caring and knowledgeable practice. The appointment was not rushed, the treatment was explained in detail and my cat was relaxed through the whole procedure. I would highly recommend Downes Vets, Leigh on Sea

Just had a visit to this practice to see vet Charlotte and her student. Brilliant treatment from both.

It’s obvious the vets genuinely love animals; this was my elderly dog’s first visit here (although other household pets are at this practice), and as I was filling out paperwork before his annual check-up and shots, I realised that the person crouched down and fussing him was the vet making friends before his appt. She was very thorough in her exam but gentle and patient with it, and despite the never-fun intra-nasal kennel cough vaccine (he doesn’t notice shots where he’s so big), he was still totally in love with her. He’s a great judge of character, and that he has warmed to her so fast is a sign that she’s not just a very good vet, but makes the animals feel safe too. My only suggestion would be to invest in a thermal microchip reader to give a fast accurate temperature reading for those animals with them, to avoid the unpleasant rectal thermometer - never easy with a reluctant large-breed dog.
