Having to have my dog Mia put to sleep on New Years Day was bad enough but the way we treat was beyond me. We rang media vets at South Elmsall on the 29 th of Dec, because our 12 year old Springer was being sick and her back legs were giving way. The girl on the desk said we would have to take her to Wath branch, which we did, to an app that was made. The vet gave us meds and told us to ring him at 12 midday the next day to tell him if she had picked up. The following morning Mia was worse, so I rang vets and the told the receptionist I needed to speak to the vet I had seen the day before. She said he was busy and couldn't come to the phone. I demanded she go and tell him that Mia was worse and that she needed attention quickly. I ended up making another app at Dearne Valley which my husband had to go to with my daughter as I was I'll, in bed. When they arrived there and the vet saw the state Mia was in she got straight on the phone to Wath and demanded to know what was going on... My husband was then sent back to Wath and they kept Mia overnight on the drip and for tests. The next day we got bad news that Mia had growths on her spleen and her pancreas. We spoke to the vet and decided to give Mia peace and the vet did her job. My husband and I were beside ourselves with the loss of Mia and while we were saying our goodbyes there were a couple behind the desk, outside our room , laughing ang squealing loudly. When I came out I told the vet that the staff in the back had no respect. I wanted to change vets after this happened, as we have Mack, who is also 12 but my husband said leave it. I have always taken my pets to Mr Bartrum, Mr Patrick and the rest but am utterly disgusted at my experience of Medi vets. I wasnt going to post this review, as you can see the date but yet again here we are. Mack has a repeat prescription for Metacam, a pain relief for Mack's joints. Last week rang for to order meds and was told 4 days and that we would get a text.......no text. My husband rang this morning and was told that a note would be left for vet and they would ring back.....no ring back today. In the meantime we have run out of meds now and Mack is in pain. Just rang at 4.30 pm and it is now closed....will try again tomorrow, who knows what that will bring. In the meantime Mack is in pain, my husband is frustrated and I am very angry!!

phone constantly engaged, cant get appointments due to lack of vets, 28th december poorly dog no appointments till january, advised to go to another vet !!!!!!!!!! I've got MEDIVET COVER, but can't get to see a vet !!! told the rota team had made a cock up. Had to phone my son who lives close by South Elmsall practice to walk across and try to get an appointment because phone was constantly engaged, but when he got there no one was on the phone, what do they do, turn it off ??? Phoned their Pontefract branch, no vets !!!!!! Said the phone system must be faulty. Absolutely Livid !!!!!!!! Whole Medivet sysrem is just one big commercial enterprise. When Alan Bartram was there it was a lovely practice, my do is 11 years old and has gone to the same vet from birth, but no more !!!!!!

Although my dog doesn't like going to the vets from passed experience this time it was not too bad in and out job done for another 12 months .

For my kitchen firs visit in this vet. I can just say when here are very friendly and help full ppl.Explain everything what I ask. Definitely recommend this vet. Little bit prices to expensive but now I know what’s wrong with my little baby kitten.

My son and I were both worried about taking him to the vert as we'd never taken him before and they were great. We met a lovely lady who was very good with us and our dog. He was weighed and checked, then she gave us advice on how to treat his ears and his sore foot and showed me how to administer the medication.

I attended Pontefract and from the very first telephone call, to the receptionist, to the vet all staff were friendly, polite and professional just what you need when you are worried about your pet. Would definitely recommend this surgery. Very pleased.
