I wanted to register my new addition Brutus “Weimaraner puppy” with Polden Hills Vets
To my surprise!
I was told that because I had removed my previous 2 dogs M2 & Boris from the practise 7 years ago & M2 was still alive & registered with a different vet my new addition Brutus is not accepted at PHV.
Both M2 & Brutus have to be registered with Polden Hill Vets.
Problem: - Polden Hill vets will not re-register M2 back - Practise Policy – PH vets want the complete monopoly of you pets & if you leave you are not welcomed back.
Really!! – is this the 21st century
Pet for Homes here we come!!!!!
At Polden Hills Veterinary Centre we pride ourselves in going above and beyond, not only to provide the very best 1st Opinion Veterinary Care, working to Gold Standard wherever possible, but also to provide a 24 hour, 365 day a year, out of hours emergency service for registered clients. This service is provided by experienced Veterinary Surgeons and Practice Partners, John Smith and Margaret Walker, who not only live on site but also field all incoming emergency calls themselves meaning you will never speak to an answering service. Your emergency will be met with a series of potentially lifesaving questions, considered by an experienced Veterinary Surgeon, who will assist you in providing your pet with the very best care until they arrive on site. We are confident that if one were to ask any number of our clients who have had to take advantage of this service, it will be one of the many reasons why they are now long term, loyal clients of Polden Hills Veterinary Centre.
No doubt it goes without saying that this level of service requires huge personal commitment from John & Margaret and indeed the whole team at Polden Hills Veterinary Centre. So, in order for us to be able to continue to provide this high level of consistent care, it is important to us that we know that we are only fielding calls from loyal clients, who appreciate the service and visit our practice for all of their veterinary needs, with all of their pets, in and out of hours.
I’m sure that you would agree that if one of these long term, loyal clients who have ALL of their small animals registered with us, were to call in an emergency, out of hours, only to find that we were already handling an emergency for a client who say, only used us for this service, whilst going elsewhere for other services, they would feel extremely aggrieved at the our lack of commitment and loyalty to them in the circumstances.
Furthermore, it should be noted that at no time have we ever made a client feel uncomfortable about moving to another Veterinary Practice, nor have we questioned why, we simply forward all your pets’ histories upon request, with permission. However, for all of the aforementioned reasons we do reserve the right to adopt a “no returns” policy which, we make all clients who choose to move away, aware of before sending the histories. The only exception to the rule may be for someone who moves out of area and later returns and looks to re-register.
Having discussed this at length with you on the phone recently, we hope that you now fully understand and appreciate that this is by no means a ploy by Polden Hills Veterinary Centre to create a “monopoly”. But in actual fact, to protect the dedicated staff and in turn our loyal clients and their pets, when they most need us. It is to ensure that we are here, for the long term, providing a consistently high level of care, day and night, every day of the year. However, should you wish to discuss the matter further, please do not hesitate to call our Practice Manager on 01278 722088.
