2 visits with my cat for hyperthyroidism. I was quoted £160 for thyroid and urine test, but charged £245 on pick up. Was quoted £60 for follow up blood test, but was charged £110 which was then dropped to £45 when I questioned the cost. When I asked for a prescription so I could get the medication online for less than half the price, I was told that, as my cat needed a 5mg dose and a 2.5mg dose on a daily basis, I would need 2 prescriptions as they ‘couldnt’ put both doses on the same prescription!! Absolute rip off!!
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and we are disappointed to see that you have not been happy with your recent visits to Kidderminster Vets4Pets.
We are sorry if there has been confusion over pricing of the various tests. In the first instance, the higher value paid reflected not only the blood and urine tests performed, but also the previous consult fee and the cost for treatment which was discussed prior to collection. In the second instance, the lower value paid reflected the level of blood test which you elected to have performed. A more investigative follow up test was recommended for the reasons previously discussed with yourself, but as a less investigative blood test was chosen, this was reflected in the lower cost.
With modern day veterinary medicine, there are numerous useful diagnostic tests, medical and surgical treatment options and monitoring tests that are beneficial to carry out. We aim to advise owners of these options, the pros and cons of these options and the costs involved. We try and tailor these options to best meet the requirements of the individual animal and owners. We are always up front and honest about our charge’s which reflect our running costs and allow on-going investment into the practice which is always moving forwards.
We are more than happy to go over the various monitoring tests and costing options with you again as we do realise it can be confusing sometimes when your pet develops a condition which requires careful monitoring. Kind Regards, The Team at Kidderminster Vets4Pets
