Having helped our dog izzy rear her weakest pup twinkle I couldn't part with her she had a health problem but lived a couple of weeks from her 11th birthday. I had to make one of the hardest decisions to have her put to sleep.the team at vets for pets were caring and compassionate to our needs. Thank you all very much x

thanks to paul for putting my dog izzy to sleep in a calm and compassionate way , i took her for a little walk down tredegar park before coming to you because she loved to run and swim in the river when she was younger , broke my heart but she was suffering , thanks again.

Unfortunately I had to have my bulldog major put to sleep,I chose private cremation.To cut a long story short I had £160 on me at the time and the bill was £243,I discussed this with Paul who said that was ok and that major would be picked up the following Monday and ashes returned for pick up the Monday after that.I said I could pay the remaining balance when I picked up his ashes,I was asked by Paul could I pay before that so I agreed I would.Now at about 11.30 on the Monday I recieved a call to tell me that as I had not paid the balance before the Monday of pick up major was left there for another week hence now it would be a further 2 weeks before I had major back.They had plenty of opportunity to inform me that balance had to be paid before pick up and they did not.I could not believe it I feel it is totally heartless and unprofessional ,I feel that in this day and age it's not about the animal or the customer but the money very unhappy I just want my bully back.
Vet ResponseIn response to Mr Beatty's review, I, Paul McCarthy, as the owner of Newport Vets4Pets, was saddened to read about this. We here at Newport take the subject of euthanasia very seriously, as I hope Mr Beatty would acknowledge, with the time and privacy given over to Major on the Wednesday 29th June. We understand that it is a very difficult and emotional time for any client and should Mr Beatty continue to be saddened by our handling of Major's situation, then I would rather, and be more than happy to, discuss the events with him at the practice. Unfortunately, owing to the sadness of these occasions we often find that instructions to clients can be misheard, and despite offering Mr Beatty a payment plan, something which is not our policy, it was clear the dates that payment had to be made by. Payment has to be made before collection of animals as we use an outside contractor for our cremations, who need payment on collection. We again are sorry for Mr Beatty's loss, but the actions that we carried out were simply as had been agreed on the Wednesday 29th June.

Best vets in Newport always available when you are in need, we changed to this vets in 2010 when we were not satisfied with a previous vets practice treatment of one of our dogs and needed a second opinion, thanks to the staff who worked hard we have a boy who has his life back. we have used this vets ever since and always know we will get the best treatments possible and service. thank you Paul, Cathy, Nat and all other staff and nurses we owe you a lot Paul, Gail and the paps

They really are one of the best vets. They give good, solid advice without trying to sell you extras, they care for the animals and I have no worries that when my dogs are in their care they are being looked after and extremely cared for. Especially Cath, she is one of the best vets I've ever encountered, really friendly, knows her stuff and really loves the animals. Wouldn't hesitate for a moment to reccomend this vets to anyone! In fact, I've told all my friends!

We transferred in to this practice after running in to continual issues with vets who had issues with large dogs - There is none of that with Paul and Cath. The level of care that the pets receive, and the style of care is very important, and the animals pick up on it all. My dogs used to hate going to the vets, they now wag their tails for most of the experience. Todays visit involved the crazy staffie, the nosey puppy, and my 5 year old rottie - they didn't even skip a beat! The one product that I cannot endorse highly enough is the vac4life plan. For under £100, you never have to pay again for your annual vaccinations - Something that with the current financial situation in the world allows you to get one of the major "running costs" of your pet out of the way as soon as you take delivery.

My cats microchip was not working properly and could not use his cat flap.He was seen very quickly and the staff were friendly and caring and after a new chip, he can use his cat flap. Very happy with the service.

I rescued 2 cats a few years ago, having lost my original pair some 10 years previously. As I was now living in a new area and did not know any of the vet practices, I took a chance on the one nearest to us. It is a decision I have come to regard as a very lucky one. Paul and the whole team are fantastic. Very professional and never a drama, no matter how upset or distressed clients are, we are all dealt with in a calm and comforting manner. Very happy with this practice.
