Her fur is matted around her mouth. she seems happy - is this something I should be worried about?

I think so - drooling is often the first sign of dental disease which, if untreated, can lead to malnourishment or even gut stasis. I'd strongly advise a vet visit to get those teeth looked at, and make sure she stays as happy as she is now!
