Hello! A random, recurrent dry cough should be taken seriously in a cat. Often, it can just be a hairball trying to come up, but other possibilities include heart disease, respiratory infection, parasitic diseases, allergies, 'asthma,' or cancer, so it's worth making that appointment to be seen (your veterinary team may want to ask questions at the time of booking to make sure that it isn't an emergency). Regarding the lesion on the anus, it's hard to tell what I'm looking at here. It's possible that it is the entrance to one of the anal glands, which has some secretion stuck in it, although it's difficult to orientate the cat on this photo. Alternatively, it could be an unfortunately placed pustule, or a foreign object such as a worm egg. In any case, always wash your hands extremely well after putting them near a cats' anus because of the risk to humans of catching cat-worms. If your cat is licking or rubbing the area, a vet-check for this too may be better sooner rather than later because they can lick or rub excessively, damaging the delicate skin and thereby get sore very quickly. Best of luck and please let us know how you get on.
