Hello! I'm afraid that I can't assess your pet for you from here - I simply can't see enough, do not know enough of the history and current veterinary ethics may prevent it. Your team will hopefully conduct appropriate post-op checks and ensure that the wound is healing appropriately but it's important to call them if you still have concerns.
In general, when the femur has been removed, the muscles holding the thigh in place have to be cut and this does, rather inevitably, cause a lot of reshaping around the area. This can be exaggerated if the dogs' leg has been sore ie the muscles haven't been used and aren't as bulky as they once were. I'm sorry that you were not expecting this and I wonder if you can politely let your vet know; perhaps they might take this into consideration for future communications?
Meanwhile, how are you and your dog adapting to the three legged life? It can be a huge change that takes a lot of getting used to, for humans and dogs alike.
