Hi there. My 3 month old kittens bum looks like this when she poops - she keeps pushing even she if finished. She doesn’t seem in discomfort. it returns back to normal afterwards and sometimes pokes out but otherwise looks really normal aside when she poops  

Good morning - she appears to be prolapsing her rectum to a small extent.   If you imagine the GI tract (guts, stomach etc) as a tube going through the body from the mouth to the anus, then it is actually a soft, flexible tube.   Sometimes the poo can carry the lining with it to the outside world - leaving an inflamed ring of the wall that should be inside the rectum, poking out.  It doesn't always go back in: I've seen them dried out, perforated and even with maggots.  Sadly, more often than not, in those cases a prolapse can often become fatal. However if a lining is poking out and then withdrawing again, it may still be in a moist healthy state and your vet will want to keep in that way.   I wonder whether any complications such as worms are involved, or whether there is some other unseen cause of this.   My advice would be to call your vet, explain what is going on, explain what the anus looks like now (I'm not clear about this) and ask when they want her to be seen.
