Hello! Unfortunately, the internet is a big place. Who told you to just leave it and it will fall off? What is the source of information recommending antibiotics or amputation? Have you a confirmed diagnosis of tail-rot, or is this an assumption or best guess?
My best recommendation for you is to take the gecko to a vet. Ideally, one specializing in exotic species. Phone calls to local vets usually help to identify the enthusiastic 'lizard vet' in an area, but as it is nearly the middle of the night (assuming you are in the UK) a phone call to your vets' emergency cover will help to triage the lizard in terms of how urgently the case needs to be seen.
Best of luck and please do let us know how you get on
