15F2B8C9-6CD0-45EB-B1E6-3BFA76940AEBHi there, We are going to the West Country where there will be ticks. My 2 year old 4kg shih tzu/Maltese already has advocate once a month for flea treatment, but this product doesn’t cover ticks. I have found a single pipette treatment for fleas and ticks called Flevox. I only need one pipette for the month of our holiday. Is it ok to apply it along with her normal advocate pipette, obviously spaced out at different times over the month, or should I skip a month of advocate and only treat her with Flevox? Thank you

Hello!  I hear that you would, for a short time, like to introduce a treatment to your pets' normal parasite treatment that prevents ticks.  You have definitely done the right thing in asking before adding anything alongside your current antiparasitic treatments:  concerns include exacerbating side effects, leaving some parasites untreated for and also drugs reacting together to stop one another working or having unforseen consequences in the body.   For this reason, when your pet is on prescription meds (eg the flea treatment), it is vitally important to check any additional medications with your vets to ensure that a) they are compatable and b) that they are licensed to work.   You may also be able to visit a pharmacist that provides animal services  (take your current drugs packaging along with you). Best of luck.
