Tonight I was stroking my dog when I noticed what felt like a lump on her neck. When I looked into this I noticed she has a thick scab, this is the first time we have noticed it. She hasn’t been scratching this or been doing anything to alert us that she is any pain. Anyone know what this could be ? D5928D61-D7E0-4FA9-A8EF-3661C77714987D6F775F-33BA-4FC4-BF53-9B3E7092C5A5

Hello!  The word 'scab' refers specifically to dry blood, usually laid down to cover a wound while it heals.  They usually start off reddish in colour, but that can change over time.   If this is not a scab, then it could be something else.... potentially something worse, needing veterinary attention.

I wonder, for example, about superficial pyoderma - there is a good article about this if you search in our blog.  It could also be a layer of accumulated flakes.  We would advise a quick check with your vet, nurse or perhaps even your pharmacyst if they engage with this kind of thing;  if wounds, scabs or other underlying causes can be ruled out, then certain, specific  medicated shampoos may prove helpful.
