Took my dog to the vets as she caught herself on a fence and unfortunately because of where the cut is they are unable to do anything such as stitch it etc, does anyone have any advice and what I should do? To help etc? The vet gave antibiotics but that’s it. The cut is under her armpitCCF4E2F1-A12B-4300-985C-B9AB08094645

Hello!   Im pleased that you've taken this wound to the vets as it is potentially deep; lingering infection could have long term cobsequences. We would reccommend following your vets' advice;  it sounds as though a treatment plan should be in place.   It is quite common that there are details that clients forget or the vet forgets to tell them - such as does the wound need to be shaved / cleaned, how to stop hair from entering the wound if this is the case, what to give for the pain (that could be a full thickness skin tear! - pain medication and antibiotics may both be necessary)  and ways to prevent licking.  You can usually call them back and ask.  It may be a concern that as well as bacteria, small stick fragments remain in the wound so it doesnt surprise me if they have decided not to suture immediately;  it would be good to understand what your vet expects of this wound over the next few weeks.  However, medical advice about a specific wound does need to come from the vet in charge of this case.   Wishing you the best of luck.
