Hi, I have a 6 year old female pomeranian with no history of neurological disease/ disorder. This morning she woke up yelping/ screaming in pain. When I checked on her, her body is limp and has no strength kindly like jelly. Her eyes are also open & are also disoriented and not looking at me straight in the eye. In addition, I kept calling out her name but she wouldn't response and just laid like that on her bed. I cradled her face while she was lying like that on her bed.   After a min and a half, I could feel the strength of her body coming back and she has started looking at me. I called her again and she went back to her usual ways. It felt like nothing happened. She eats the same and acts the same after the incident. Should I be concerned or can anyone her help explained to me why she woke up like that? Would really really appreciate the help

Hello.  Yes - I wonder if she had a fit, or an episode of syncope.  If it ever happens again, film it for your vet if you can - meanwhile it sounds as though you may need at least a check up, or an emergency appointment.  Please call your vet straight away, explain that it may be an emergency and ask for the case to be triaged.

This could even be spinal.  Please do call your vet and tell them that it may be an emergency.  Depending on the situation, they may give you instructions not to move the patient.

Hi! Thank you for the reply, greatly appreciate it.   Unfortunately, our local vet near us is close today and we don't have any emergency vet clinic/hospitals near us. The earliest we can go to our local vet is tomorrow. Do you have any suggestions on what to do for now? I'm just monitoring her and giving her normal food. She acts like normal as well. Thank you very much again!
