My dog is a 12 year old Shih Tzu and her eyes have gotten a little cloudy over the last couple of years but I’ve noticed an unexpected change in her right eye over the last couple of days. Her pupil has started to turn a weird color and a red spot has shown up in her eye. I made a vet visit for next Saturday but I’m wondering if I should find a emergency pet hospital to take her to instead. She hasn’t had any major change in behavior; she’ll just squint until I remove the eye boogers from her eye and she eats and drinks like she usually does. Thank you in advance for your advice. 540B0909-9D9E-4D9F-B503-5B537F9527CB

Hello - it sounds as though you are missing a process here called 'triage.'  Triage is a quick chat with the emergency team or your actual vet to establish how long a condition can wait to be seen - and I, as a random outsider vet, am not in an ethical position to do this for you.   Ocular (eye) problems are frequently emergencies, so its definitely worth speaking to your vet and asking them whether an emergency appointment or urgent referral to an eye clinic is appropriate in this case.  Perhaps they can look at the picture to help decide....
