I wanted to reach out regarding my 10-month-old kitten who recently received a spot on treatment of Fiprofort Plus. Since the treatment, the kitten has been sneezing the next morning. The kitten had used this medicine earlier in November but had to be spayed in December, so the medicine was not followed up during that time. Additionally, I have an established cat who also underwent the same spot on treatment he is only showing discomfort by scratching which he did anyways before the treatment. My Kitten seems alright and is eating and playing. I am worried if the sneezing is a severe issue to be immediately addressed or should I let it resolve on its own. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing back from you. Best regards, lala

Hello!  Every day, many kittens get Fiprofort plus treatment.   Every day, many kittens go the vets - which is stressful and affects the immune system - and some of those cats might pick up normal respiratory bugs from the air that they have not met before, which make them sneeze.  Every day, kittens that have not even been to the vets, start sneezing for a variety of reasons.

Therefore, there is no way that we can know, for one individual kitten, whether the sneezing is related to the vet visit or not.  However, if that is a medically licensed drug, tests will have been done in clinical practice and if any increase in incidence of sneezing is associated with that drug, it should be recorded on the data sheet, which your vet may have provided a copy of (if not, they should do on request).

As to what to do now, definitely report those signs to your vet so that if they have any concerns about your kitten, they can ask to check her over.  They will usually be happy to check the data sheet.  They may suggest reasons for the sneezing and / or instigate any treatment or investigation that they feel may be necessary.  Wishing all the best to your little one.

Thank you doc for your prompt reply earlier. I wanted to provide an update that after waiting for 30 hours, I cleaned the spot with a wet wipe, because my kitten wouldn’t stop scratching/licking , she seems more relaxed now. I will keep a close eye on the situation and let you know if there are any changes. Thank you again for your time and help.
