Alternative to cephalexin?

We have 2 year old mix breed, 41 pounds, who has been prescribed cephalexin. She is a master of eating around the capsule. Break it open and sprinkle the powder and she ignores her food, put it in a pill pocket, she eats the pocket and spits out the pill, put it in cheese, still spits it out. Try to get her mouth open and throw the pill in and rub her throat? She fights it and growled and bit my wife. A deep bite. Any suggestions? A liquid form? A pill that comes in tablet form that I can quarter? We  are at a loss. Any suggestions? Thanks Darryl

Hello - yes, there are alternative preparations of Cephalexin available including tablets and a daily injection, so we would reccommend returning to or calling your vet.  Its certainly not a good idea to risk getting bitten and we're sorry to hear about your wife - hopefully it goes without saying but if the bite was forceful / penetrated the skin, please also consider talking to a medic abut your wife's injury.   Best of luck
