What did my cat just throw up ?

My cat just woke up and started gagging before throwing all this up.  Does anyone know what this is or what caused it, and how to help?

I'm not sure what this is. My image is quite grainy but it looks almost feacal (like poo).  Completely out of context, it would be hard for me to say anything else except to let your vet know, and assess with regards to if and when they would like the patient to be seen.   If this is a foreign body for example, there may be a concern as to whether more foreign matter is inside and if if potentially causing problems.   If worms are involved, drugs may need to be given.  If this may be something toxic, the vet might want to identify it and treat accordingly, and so on.

It could also be dog food, cat food or faeces.
