To my understanding, many dogs that suffer a CCL rupture already have arthritic change to some extent, so some degree of limping may be expected later. The trouble is that I cannot explain what reasonable expectations or possible complicating factors were for your dog, because I do not know anything about them. This is always something to discuss with a team about the particular patient at the time of surgery, but you should always be able to take outstanding concerns back to the team. The fact that you've asked here suggests some kind of concern, but it may be unhelpful to have a general conversation if you have in mind a specific situation, about which more targeted advice might be more useful. I hope that something here proves useful.
