Hello, My pup Willow who is 10 months old started showing signs of being in heat on June 18th of this year. At one point her vulva was extremely swollen and "looks like a boy part" according to a family member. due to how swollen it was. The swelling has went down but her nipples remane stiff. Here vulva still appears somewhat swollen (note I'm basing this of imagine found on google) but definitely not as bad. I have not seen any signs of discharge however she spend lots of time outside and I don't really "inspect" that's area often. Is he still swollen? Is she still heat dispite it being over 50 days? Do to financial reasons I cant take her to a vet till the 23rd of this month.Screenshot_20230810_215426_GalleryScreenshot_20230810_215409_GallerySorry for the poor image quality she doesn't hold still for more than a second.

Hello!  First seasons are different for everydog and to be honest, it is difficult to tell out of context how swollen this is.  Some development / shape change can happen at this time but obsessive licking, 'yeasty smell' (skin disease), excessive drinking and discharge should raise concerns, in which case you can call your vet for the case to be triaged (that is, you speak to someone at your surgery who will ask questions in order to establish how soon she needs to be seen).

In honesty, if there is anything that you are unsure about, it is always better to raise the concern and speak have a vet say that something is normal after all, than to miss a problem.

In order to.answer your question, it is unlimely for a heat to last more than 50 days;  1-2 weeks would be typical.   This could be a permanent adolescent change or an abnormality;  your vet will check for you, in context.
