Hello - there's a full spectrum of things this could be, from a flea or fly bite that doesn't want to heal / keeps getting scratched open, to a lump called a histiocytoma (usually benign) to a traumatic lesion (sratch or scrape) to a less benign lump or bump, to an expression of come underlying allergy etc. You seem to suggest that it is being scratched; your vet can check the underlying ears for disease (usually allergy), make steps to stop the itching and give it chance to heal. If it doesn't heal, or if other signs are observed, they may decide that it needs more dramatic action eg being removed and sampled, or left for a time if they suspect a histiocytoma in the early stages. We woldn't leave it to be repeatedly opened up; this can make it harder for the skin to heal, especially over a long time. Of course, it might just randomly heal , but best be prepared for the other scenarios. Wishing both of you the best of luck.
