Hello . My dog's left eye is slightly sunken with a visible third eyelid since 1 month. We went to the vet and he assured us that there are no injuries around but his teeth are bad. After 1 week, we removed upper molars from the left. When the anesthetic is placed around it, it recovers, but then a third eyelid appears again and around the swallow. No signs of pain in about . He is on an antibiotic for an oral infection and was on pain meds for 3 days. Today is the 5th day after the removal of the teeth, but the area is not getting better. What to do? Please help!

Hello!  It is difficult when there are two sets of symptoms running concurrently and it sounds as though the focus has been on the teeth thus far.  I think that good questions for your vet might include:  'What possible causes might there be for this happening in my dogs' eye?'  'How do we tell the difference between those causes' and 'Is there anything else that we should be doing?'  If your vet is not already aware of the problem with the eye, they should be contacted in case they would like to see your dog sooner.  Because many eye cases turn out ot be emergencies, this is definitely something for your vet to assess.  One possibility may be a disruption to one of the nerves supplying the third eyelid.  Wishing you both all the best from here.
