I have been to my vet and he is a bit flumoxed. He has posted on various forums himself. We are doing swab and urine test, but having to work round Christmas breaks with the lab etc
8 yr mixed breed. Rescue dog
neutered at approx 6months
Has a ‘morning glory’ every 10 days or so, and has done so for as long as I can remember. It appears uncomfortable for him. I have always said that I think his erect willy is too big for his sheath. I have mentioned this to previous vet and the only response was “there is nothing more to take away” “don’t soothe him as it might make him even more anxious’ “put an ice pack on it”
The past few times he has actually bled. Anyone any ideas ?
Horrible pics to follow
first one a week ago, last two earlier today
Hello - I'm so pleased to read that you've already got a vet onto this! I supposed that in the immediate term, they will want to be sure that too much blood isn't being lost and that any fluid that needs to escape the bladder can safely escape (overfilled bladders being extremely serious in the sort term). As well trying to keep your dog safe in the short term, they might well be considering a way to work out what's going on - perhaps by taking pictures - ('imaging') - checking values with respect to urine leaving the body, and may explore the area under anaesthetic. It may be that they ask to refer the case to an expert in the field, depending on what they find. I'm sorry that your loved boy is going through this - nobody wants their pet to become an 'interesting case' at Christmas - and wish him the best of luck. Please would you let us know what is found?
