I noticed my 5yr cat's RR was HIGH when she was purring. It's been high normal since. She is SF, DMH, hx of herpes and uveitis. Unsure if this warrants a vet visit

Hello!  And thank you for this fascinating question.  Cats can breathe faster while purring for various reasons; excitement may be one but pain can certainly be another.  At this point, many owners say, 'well I know my cat can't be in pain,' but research studies show that surprisingly few owners identify when cats are in pain; the signs are often not what we'd expect.  Thus, until very recently, pain in cats has been underdiagnosed right across the board.  I suppose that we all hurt ourselves a little bit, temporarily, sometimes.  However, it's worth noting in your diary when (both when in their day, and the date) this is happening and if it is something that you are seeing repeatedly when you didn't before - or if it goes on on one occasion, for a while - then a check up is advisable.

Thank you! I took her to the vet today and her lungs and heart were fine, however they did a quick abdominal scan and noticed she had a lot of debris and a blood clot in her bladder. We did an xray and lungs and heart looked good, but her bladder was huge. They took a urine sample and thinking maybe she has a UTI!

Well, I guess that would make a cats' bladder quite painful.  Thank ypu for updating us and all the best to both of you in getting her bladder more comfortable again.
