Recenty I have noticed a soft mass/lump on my dog's left butt cheek. He does not appear to be in pain when I press against it. It does feel soft and seems to be movable. Should I be alarm? My dog is a pomenarian mixed, 4.5kg, 5 years old. He's eating and playing like normal. Thanks a lot! capture-20240302-212021

Hello!  I'm struggling to visualise this on your dogs' anatomy, but you mentioned that it's near the left butt cheek and there is some chance that this is of anatomical relevance, either an errant testicle or an enlarged lymph node or even a small perinneal hernia.   Your vet therefore ought to check it.  From what I can see, it might also be a simple skin lump.  Cancerous lumps do not hurt any more than non cancerous lumps or cysts; even absesses sometimes dont appear to. There are many possibilities and your vet may need to do more tests before they can know what is going on.  However, the lump may certainly be important enough that it needs to be seen by a vet who can examine it in context. Please will you let us know how you get on?

I took him to the dog clinic. The DVM gave him ultra sound and diagnosed him with perinneal hernia. He will need surgery.
