So my girl pitty mix CJ got diagnosed with double luxating patella at 6 ish months old, (they never did an X-ray and they just said it wasn’t severe) I’ve been giving her a joint supplement ever since. She doesn’t ever limp anymore or show signs of discomfort. My question is should I limit her exercise still? She’s 85 lbs and 3 years old now. She loves to play and do agility courses. I don’t want to limit her fun, but I don’t want it to hurt her in the long run. Btw the joint supplement is the hemp one by only natural pet. TYIA

Hello - I have been reluctant to answer this, because this is another vets' surgical case.  Usually there are local experts in assessing patellae and your surgeon will be an expert in this procedure; they will see it and perform it regularly, know the method they used and be on top of the latest research.  So for two reasons (they know more than me about your dog; they know more than me about the procedure, therefore they know more than me about this procedure in this dog) I am not going to comment.   I understand that we all forget to ask our surgeons questions at times; however in my experience, surgeons are good with very specific questions such as this and a single return phone call ought to settle it.  Wishing you all the best with CJs recovery.
