We have two older cats. One is in regular need of veterinary attention as she has previously been (successfully) treated for cancer and now has arthritis, I absolutely cannot fault the care that Medivet Shawbirch have provided. The new vet Mark is excellent. He's knowledgeable, caring and inspires confidence. You never feel like he's second guessing what's wrong with your pet. He also brings much needed stability and continuity to the practice after months of locum vets filling in due to the previous vets departure. For example; One of our cats had a long running ear infection which went on for over six months and none of the locum vets managed to resolve. One visit and Mark identified the issue and within a week of treatment he was right as rain. The nursing staff are also helpful, understanding, kind and ready to assist in any way they can. Everyone is really friendly, welcoming and above all, professional. The facilities are always spotlessly clean. It has improved massively from the practice it was ten years ago and the credit goes to the staff who work hard there caring for our pets. Highly recommended.

The dedication and professionalism of the Shawbirch team is amazing. It is great that Mark is a permanent vet to the practice and I know that my dog, cats and even my chickens are in safe hands. Mark, Sophie and Sam could not be more helpful and accommodating and I would not take my pets anywhere else. Highly recommend this branch Thank you Medivet Shawbirch

I am very grateful to everyone at Medivet Shawbirch for all their help and assistance in preparing my son's dog Kyre and all the paperwork necessary for her to fly to Australia. Nothing was too much trouble and Mark Ashbury even came in during his leave period to finalise the certification. I would not hesitate to recommend this practice to anyone.

Cannot fault the service. Since Mark has arrived as the permanent vet, it's nice to have the continuity. All the staff are very helpful and take time to get to know you and your pet. Having recently acquired a not so common breed of cat , the staff have taken the time to listen to my concerns over treatment and have also down their own research. I have 3 cats and 1 dog registered on their pet scheme which is excellent value for money. Keep up the good work x

Appointment was on time, the vet and nurses are friendly and welcoming. The practice is always spotlessly clean and more importantly I know my kittens were in very safe hands and had a thorough check when seen.

My dog took ill in the middle of the night. I pick him up in he morning to take him to medivet at shawbirch. I was greeted by a friendly receptionist. The vet came in and saw my dog straight away before he even took his coat off. They kept my dog for the rest of the day and gave me a full run down of the care he had received. The staff were friendly, helpful and I felt that I could trust them with my pet. As my pet has never been ill they put me at ease and helped with the insurance form.

Mid 2016 I had to make the decision to send my companion , Peggy , after 14 years together , on her final journey due to her deteriorating health . Living alone this was such a heart wrenching decision to make ,but was made so much easier by the love support and compassion shown to us both at the time and afterwards being able to pop in and have a chat as I,d got to know the girls over the years and support their many events at the surgery. I now have my kitten ,Martha , and the same love and care carries on through , my questions have always been answered in a positive and knowledgeable way both with Peggy and now with Martha ,thank you all for getting me through those dark weeks and your support now getting used to my mischievous kitten, Martha , god bless you all xxx

We had to rush our dog to the practice as he had accidentally got his ear bit off by another dog. The vets had just closed as it was Saturday morning but the nurse opened up and helped with our dog as he was bleeding profusely. The vet had just gone over to the Oakengates practice so she called them and arranged for them to be waiting for us. Needless to say, they fixed our dogs ear and looked after him as he was also obviously in shock. Unfortunately we left both surgeries looking like a blood bath due to the injury but all of the staff were brilliant and looked after out boy and didn't seem concerned by the mess we left them with, just concerned for looking after their patient. Thank you to everyone involved for looking after Oscar.

We have two rescue dogs one is afraid of people and one who was underweight when we had her so she will eat food at every opportunity consequently became very overweight. We have found the weight clinic very usefull, they measured her and weighed her then provided us with advice on which food to feed, how much to give her and how much exercise to give her. Every fortnight we take her in to be weighed and measured, discuss her progress (or lack of) and they provide us with advice or answer questions. So far she has lost 3.6kg with 1.5kg to go. At the same time we take the one who is afraid to get him used to the surgery and staff and now he is better with the surgery even if we still have work to do with the staff. Thanks for all your help.
