Acid Reflux med

My vet prescribed famotidine 20 mg for acid reflux. I picked some up today. cVS brand maximum strength famotidine usp 20 mg. I called the vets office to verify it was okay since I couldn’t find original strength unless it was the name brand and wasn’t sure if that was okay. Vet was out and vet tech said she wasn’t sure but assumed it was okay. After some research I found one article that says not to give maximum strength.

Hello - only your vet can prescribe for your dog and I agree that someone saying they 'think' this is right is unclear and unhelpful.  I suspect that your dog is by now overdue doses, so you could ask if it was an appropriate use of the emergency line to clarify this for your dog (depending how your dog is and how busy they are), or hold off until tomorrow and call back for proper clarification.
