Hello So I have a female Cane Corso that just gave birth to 8 puppies and this is her 3rd litter. I know usually cane corsos have litters of 13 but the other two litters 13 came but 3 from the first litter died and 2 from the last litter died but only 8 came in this litter and so far none have died. However I am concerned about my female she's acting a little different, she seems more sad, more drained and all around not her usual self after birth. I was petting her and noticed a lump under the skin between her hip/spine and stomach so right in the side anyone that could shed a little light on her behavior and the lump would be greatly appreciated

Hello - congratulations on the puppies - now I think you need to prioritise Mum's care and get her and her babies to a vet.  There are some quite unpleasant emergencies that can present like this - dystocias, herniae, toxaemia etc and the only way to know would be to examine the Mum and rule them out.  Ask the vets before you set off how they would like you to transport the pups - a cat carrier might work for example.  Wishing you and the new family all the best.
