Vets only please….. our 10yo blue heeler Bentley was at the vet last Saturday morning because he wasnt feeling well and wasn’t eating. Before his appointment he threw up pieces of 2 different dog toys. Vet put him on enrofloxacin and metronidazole and gave him a shot of Penicillin with dexamethasone in it. There was no improvement Saturday into Sunday so he went back to the vet on Sunday evening for barium dye he went Monday morning at 9 AM for an x-ray because they thought he may still have some in there. he did poop this Sunday morning and he pooped monday morning. X-ray on Monday didn’t show much because the barium didn’t make it far through system. We returned to the vet on Monday evening the barium had made it further into a system and showed no blockage. They then drew blood I will attach his blood results. They were through the roof they put him on prednisone and a special formula wet dog food he’s also now on a liver medication called Denamarin. His mood has improved his appetite has also improved And the food that he is on We also mix in White rice his 4Health dry dog food and some colostrom. My question is, E9C88A1B-F2C9-4019-AA8D-E3249619EF64A4F46FC9-67EC-4C88-BEA5-EA812566F214CE9D944B-8C6C-4816-A192-D75A9D1A2CFA is there any supplements food or something of the sort to give to him to help his numbers return to normal? thank you for all that you do!

Hello!  I'm pleased to hear that Bentley sounds to be feeling better.  It is not unusual for some kind of insult to cause liver damage or high enzymes but then for the liver recover again.  Denamarin, which you tell me Bentley is taking, is a very well-known liver supplement and is thought to help in recovery.  If you were planning on supplementing the liver any further, please ask your vet whether it's okay because it is definitely possible to overdo it with certain nutrients.  Food-wise, the more different kinds of food, the more likely one of them will cause inflammation or a reaction, so at times like these it is possible that your vet may prefer you to keep the diet as simple as possible.  However, that is best discussed with the vet who knows the case.  Wishing Bentley all the best from here and please do keep us posted as to how he gets on!
