Hi my male, neutered, 8 year old rabbit has started passing blood and clots rather than urine. We noticed a large red area in his hutch this morning so we brought him inside. he has been inside for much of the day, he has in the last hour again passed blood and clots inside.  His diet has not changed recenty and he is not fed anything with significant red colour. It's the first time we have noted this blood and clots. Unfortunately we don't have any pics, it was cleaned up before thinking about it. Any help would be greatly apreciated. Thanks Dan.

Hello!  Usually when urine looks like pure blood, there is at least some urine mixed in there; a way to tell is that blood usually clots when it has been sitting for a few seconds.  However, it sounds as though it would be a good idea to contact your emergency vet and asked to be triaged over this one, in order that you get any necessary attention in the short term.  There are many things that can cause blood in urine including bladder stones, which can be sore.
