Hello , my cat had an enucleation surgery in his right eye . He got the sutures removed after 10 days but i noticed a tip of the thread in the top and bottom of the incision. Is that normal , or did the vet made a mistake ? 1A4978FE-EF41-48CA-8215-27AFE9933722

Hello!  That's a very neat-looking eye socket.  I don't know much about your vets' incision, in particular whether the suture you are concerned about is a dissolvable one, which will break down on its own, or (e.g. nylon) which is likely to need to be removed.  I think that a lot of vets might use a combination of both in closing this op.  A phone-call to your nursing team might clarify the issue, or a quick in-person check may be needed.

In some cases, it is normal to see the ends of the sutures protruding slightly from the incision site. This can happen if the sutures were tied on the surface of the skin rather than being buried under the skin. However, the visibility of suture ends can depend on various factors, such as the individual cat's healing process, the type of sutures used, and the specific technique employed by the veterinarian. If you are concerned about the appearance of the sutures or if your cat is showing signs of discomfort, it would be best to reach out to your veterinarian. They can provide a professional assessment and determine whether any further action, such as trimming the suture ends, is necessary. Your veterinarian is the most qualified person to give you accurate advice based on their knowledge of your cat's specific case and the surgical procedure performed.
