Hi all, I am new to this forum. I have a 15 year old cat who is soon to be 16 in May. She had an enema on Monday afternoon. She is eating and drinking. She was a vocal cat but has not be meowing at me like she was to get my attention. Is there something I can do to help? Should I be concerned? I know its a traumatic experience for them to get an enema. She had one before and she didn't act different. Any comments, suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello - given that you have an old lady, and that she is acting differently than expected, we would reccommend going back to your vet or, if closed, their emergency cover.  I dont know much about the enema, or whether it came with an anaesthetic.  However given that her response is completely different to that which was expected, I would think your vet would want to hear from you.  A cat might become dehydrated for example, which can be serious in one so old.  Otherwise, there may have been concurrent dehydration or some other unanticipated factor causing the constipation that has not been resolved.  Please will you let us know how she gets on?

Thank you so much for the reply. I took her to the vet today. She was dehydrated and got some fluids. She is already feeling a little better.
