Hi everyone, this is not an emergency I just need a disclosure for some peace my cat was 2 yrs old and got spayed with inhalation anaesthesia and the vet was really good and everything was fine but the incision got a little infected so the vet prescribed 1 ml augmantine for 5 days I gave her 1 ml on Wednesday and other on Thursday, as cats always do they get mad and spit it out with foamy saliva but no cough or smth odd happened on Saturday night her breathing were weird a little and she was off , I thought from the collar she was mad and we talked to the vet and after few hours we were at the clinic on early morning on sunday , x-ray was done and she had severe pneumonia , we don't know how or why , some vets said aspiration pneumonia but we don't know , she was gaven antihistamine , cortisone, bronchodilator everything possible but nothing worked , she couldn't breathe , we stayed at the er with oxygen therapy but it didn't work , 24 hours continuous oxygen but she she was dying if we took the mask off , on monday the vet said it's poor prognosis and we put her to sleep , I just want to know could it be from the 1 ml antibiotics or the operation , this happened abt 12 days after the spaying , I am at loss *X-ray that was taken few hours after her breathing got fast *  IMG_20220123_114507IMG_20220123_114449

Hello!  I was sorry to read this sad story and hope that you are doing okay.   Now that a few days have passed, I wonder if it feels appropriate to call your vet back and talk through your worries with them to help to get things straight your mind.  Such a rapid decline can be incredibly upsetting and it wouldn't be unusual for a client to call back later and ask to have things explained again in the cool light of day. I'm afraid that second opinions on radiographs are beyond the scope of this service but if you would like a proper second opinion, your vet should forward the radiographs and history to whoever you choose.
