Hi, A bag of cement was left unattended and we found our 2 pups had eaten quite a bit of the cement mix powder. We gave them some milk and rushed them to the nearest vet, where they were given some laxatives. Current scan is below We were asked to monitor them for 4 hours and then take new scans tonight. Dr. Said if there is movement then we can see if it passes and if not they are saying surgery to remove it. Please let us know your opinion, is there anything else we can do immediately to help? Thanks IMG-20220419-WA0023 IMG-20220419-WA0026

Hello!  I must admit that this isn't the treatment course I would have expected, but it isn't an emergency that I have had to deal with and I haven't researched it. With any poisons situation, I would always recommend asking your vet to check with or give to you the number for the Veterinary Poisons Information Service for further instructions, in order that they have the most recent and reliable advice for dealing with the toxicity in the current moment.   I'm not sure whether owners can call them direct, but you could try or ask your vet to double check for you.

As ever, the vet dealing with an animal is often best in a position to understand the best course of action, as they have examined the pet, seem the scans (I have not) and they have such lines as the VPIS available to them.  After poisoning cases, vets report back to the VPIS, so that the phone lines information tends to remain current.

I have not checked the radiographs, just for interest!  What excellent, dramatic pictures!

(please note that we don't check them before answering because they are not our radiographs and it is therefore inappropriate, but Thankyou very much for including them to illustrate this fascinating case!)

Hi, So after a laxative flush, They tested for acid levels and they were normal. We went back at 7pm and they took another set of scans. It seems that there is movement and no blockage therefore the doctor didnt think surgery was nessasary tonight. So we are going to continue with some lactulose solution and re take the scans tomorrow morning.   Thank you for all your help Truly humbled and appreciate your support IMG-20220419-WA0071IMG-20220419-WA0072
