My Doxie 11, dx early CHF right heart enlargement. Vet gave me two meds, enalipril and Lasix . Many ppl have told me my dig needs vetmedin as well. I need a clarification on this. My vet said no not needed right now. However ppl say it would help prolong her life better when started now versa later. Can you please help

Hello!  You can check out the Bohringer website (who make Vetmedin) where there is a table meant as a general guide.   It says....

Stage A (high risk dogs, no abnormality or murmur) do not need Vet-medin.       Stage B (structural abnormality but no signs of clinical heart failure) do not give Vetmedin.    Stage C (structural abnormality and current or previous signs of heart failure) and Stage D, do give Vetmedin.

This may help to explain why your vet has made the choice that they have made.   However, I know nothing about your dog at this time.  Who are the 'people' you mention and on what basis have they decided that Vetmedin would be appropriate for your dog?   Sometimes medication practices do move faster than the data sheets, so if you have reason to doubt anything that your vet has told you, I would always recommend going back to them and double checking.  Some drugs companies provide a lot of client resources and will be happy to answer questions about how the algorithm above was arrived at and whether it is still likely to be appropriate to your dog.
