My cat has been throwing up bile every day. 28 days. The vet said blood work came back normal. They did an ultra sound and said they can't see what it is but whatever it is it's on the way out. Said it looks like cat litter but they can't tell. This was weeks ago. Idk what to do. My cat seems fine but throws up bile at least 3 times a day in different spots and poop is liquid. But has nothing in the poop. Vet doesn't have an answer. Help?

Hello - you don't tell me which blood tests / ultrasound your vet did, but I wonder if they have done an up- to-date test for chronic pancreatitis.   Other groups of diseases that might or might not have been ruled out include liver diseases and GI diseases.  Your vet is likely to have a list of things that they have not yet ruled out.  They will tend to be able to tell you which of these (we call them 'differentials') are most likely, and which are easiest to rule out - and thus armed, will be able to to formulate a plan as to what needs to be investigated next.  I have always found as a vet, that if I am not sure which way to go, the laboratory pathologists who reviewed my sample are often very useful and interesting people to speak to. I hope that something these is useful.

REWRITTEN FOR CLARITY PART ONE Hello - you don't tell me which blood tests / ultrasound tests your vets did, but it's worth checking that they have tested for chronic pancreatitis, a common cause of loose stools and vomiting in adult cats.   Other groups of chronic (ongoing) diseases include liver and kidney diseases, GI disease and viral infections. Whatever the cause, if it gets severe enough, vomiting and diarrhoea can cause severe dehydration.  Regular checks of hydration are therefore advised so that fluids can be given if necessary.

As well as monitoring your cats' hydration levels, your vet may be trying to find the cause.  I'm not sure which blood tests / scans have been done, so good questions for them include 'What causes have you ruled out?' and 'what could this still be?' as well as, 'what can you still do to tell the difference between the remaining causes?'    Between keeping your cat hydrated and pinpointing the cause of them problem, your vet will probably be working quite hard - please do let us know how they get on.

I found 1 strand of carpet and a couple of pill sized hardened hairballs in his liquidy stool today.  The stool is a beige like color. He hasnt thrown up today though.  Not yet...I will also find out which blood work and tests were taken and get back to you thank you

They did a limited abdominal altra sound. I am still waiting on them to tell me what type of blood work. They emailed me tons of pictures.  All altra sound pictures. Can I upload them here for you to see?
