Hi, I took my cat to the ER vet Tuesday April 9. They did an xray and said everything was fine, she probably just had some bruising internally and she'd be fine in a few days. She's still limping and I can feel a bump on her shoulder. I was sent the xrays and when I looked at it I noticed what seems to be a crack in her shoulder. Is that indeed what I'm seeing, and if so what kind of care should be taken?
Hello and thank-you for your query. I am afraid that I often disappoint people when it comes to radiographs, but I will explain why; we endeavor only to give information on this site that we can fully support. Your vet has taken this radiograph in context, looking for or at something specific, having examined the patient in front of them from whom they will have a full history. I know none of this information. The shoulder blades are lying on top of one another, making them extremely difficult to isolate on this picture. I also only have the one view, so cannot know what could be seen in the front-to-back orientation. However, I believe that vets should show radiographs to their clients and answer any questions or concerns, so would strongly reccommend bringing any questions up with them, even ones that only occur to you afterwards. This helps to establish trust between veterinary surgeons and clients.
