Has anyone ever experienced this or know of familiar behaviour? Episodes of pacing, licking lips, arched back, head down. Can occur for 3 days with episodes varying throughout the day. When not having a episode is normal and playful . May then happen again days, weeks or months later. Nothing we can see as a consistent trigger but also yet to have a diagnosis even with Royal Cambridge Vet Hospital. Been treated for potential acid reflux but dog not reacting to treatment. Potential Neuro problem but no further tests done as physical nero examination was remarkable. Also had MRI of lower back and came back fine however could investigate further into this and when visited a holistic vet, was told felt like spine. Holistic vet helped lumbre back and 10L but has since had pacing also.
Hello! It sounds as though you and your gorgeous dog there are having a tough time. The behaviours you described initially made me wonder about brain changes e.g. the prodromal stage of epilepsy, or possibly pain (abdominal pain? Pancreatitis?) However it sounds as though you have far superior vets in far favourable circumstances (in that, they have equipment at their disposal and can actually examine the patient) already on the case. Is this the Cambridge University Vet-school Hospital? (My web-search of the name was a little uncertain). If so, they are one of the leading veterinary Hospitals who teach many vets their craft. When a vet at any Hospital level says 'I don't know what this is,' they are still usually well placed to make suggestions as to the best things to do, in order to either ease the clinical signs or to make the next best step towards finding out. Best of luck and please let us now what they unEarth.
