Hey everyone. I took my English Bulldog to the vet today for bloodwork and a fecal. Results for fecal will come back Monday. Bloodwork was all perfect and normal. He was on Rymadyl for pain in his leg, due to have surgery next week, but now thats pending the fecal results. In the meantime, we've stopped rymadyl, and he's now on anti-diarrheal, anti-biotics for potential giardia, and they also gave us pro-biotics to help sooth his tummy. He's clearly in pain, and his anus is SUPER raw. Vet recommended diaper rash cream for the raw butt, but he's got a tiny corkscrew tail and will NOT allow us in the area, despite trying a muzzle and a cone. Does anyone have any tips in applying this after each time he poos? This poor kiddo isn't even 2 years old and he's just been put through the ringer the last year

Hello and I'm sorry to hear about your boy.  He sounds to be in pain; I hear that your vet has stopped the Carprofen (Rimadyl), but could an alternative pain-killer be given in its place?  Please ask them about this with some urgency.  In my experience, dogs that are in pain are more likely to damage their own skin.
