While petting my Gidget I noticed liquid brown stuff on my finger. I went to check the cat boxes (as we have 2 cats) and all the poo was normal looking. I also looked around the floor where the cat boxes are and I found nothing. Nothing has changed in her cat food but have given her a few dental cat treats. I am hoping that I am worrying for nothing. Thank you for your help and patience.

Hello!  I suppose that the mystery brown stuff could have originated from anywhere at this stage.  This might include dog or fox poo from rolling (is Gidget an outdoor cat? - do wash your hands extremely well d/t parasitic worms), Gidget's own poo (diarrhoea?  Again, wash hands extremely well), anal gland secretion, ear secretion or something exogenous that literally transferred.   Black faeces can be something to worry about.  Black chocolate can, too.  Slugs might indicate extra care needed when worming.  Black or tarry bait / foodstuffs / paint from neighbours fence / oil from squatting under cars may all be worth considering.  Definitely feel over Gidget to see if you can find the source and consider putting some of the sticky stuff in a little pot if you have one.  Because we dont know what the black substance was, it is difficult to advise.  It may prove useful to run the incident by your emergency vet.
